BEST PRACTICE 2

Title
Rural Youth Empowerment Through Education
Objectives
1. To bring awareness about new courses and vacancies in the government and private sector as well.
2. To promote and motivate students to get jobs through competitive exams.
3. By providing special training to enable them to become independent earners of their living.
4. Organizing exclusive health camps, Yoga classes for students and conducting awareness programs on the importance of sanitation.
5. To improve their communication skills and develop problem solving abilities.
The Context
In the institution, the majority of students come from rural areas. Where miserable conditions of utter poverty, illiteracy, and ill health take hold of their lives. So, the college has resolved to take up the cause of Youth Empowerment for the students with the above objectives. This is our responsibility to give them the right path so that they are capable of doing well in their lives.
Practice
The institution has resolved to empower students to face the vicissitudes of life boldly and successfully for a life of peace, harmony, and dignity. This places an onus on the institution to cater to their needs and aspirations. The institution has intelligent and average students as well, so this is our responsibility to take important steps to improve each and every student. The role of the institution in filling this void (lack of knowledge for career) becomes very important. Adolescents face a multitude of complex choices, decisions, and difficulties. Counseling Cell provides educational and vocational guidance with the help of different Psychological Tests which helps students to select courses according to their abilities, aptitudes and interests.. Through interesting discussions, exercises, role play, and films, ethical values are instilled in young minds. This makes them responsible, healthy members of Outreach programs enable students to develop a critical awareness and analysis of our society, cultivate a deep and genuine concern for the oppressed/marginalized, and commit themselves to the task of building an equitable and just society. A variety of activities that focus on personality development, personal hygiene, and social consciousness are organized in the institution to ensure all-around development.
Evidence of Success
Counseling services have successfully imbibed confidence in students coping with stress from the problems of adaptation to the demands of university-level study and an independent life away from family. Students undergoing emotional stress and psychological problems have been given extensive help. The concerned families have also been called and counseled.
Problems encountered
Most of the students are from rural and interior areas so they face some problems attending college regularly, this is the main barrier to their improvement in their skills. Few girl students are married during their graduation so this is a big deal to convince their parents to their (students)further studies. So, these barriers create problems in front of the institution and increase institutional responsibilities.
